[Clinical contribution to enteropathy in diabetes mellitus]

In 50 patients aged between 19 and 78 years was searched for symptoms of a possible enteral neuropathy. 18 patients, 11 of them in need of insulin, spoke intermittently of diarrhoeas, which partly changed with periods of constipation. Altogether 21 patients had a reduced tonus of the anal sphincter in the rectal digital examination, 9 patients were incontinent. The syndrome of neuropathy belongs to the most frequent complications of diabetes mellitus and shows a diverse picture of a disease. The enteropathy in diabetes mellitus in perhaps caused by disturbances of motility. By an aimed establishment of the history and exact performance of the rectal digital examination reference to a diabetic enteropathy can be proved.
