    Summary

    Conservative management may be suitable for pediatric cerebellar hematomas. This approach is viable for neurologically stable children after ruling out underlying structural lesions.

    Background:

    • Cerebellar hematomas typically require prompt surgical evacuation, especially in children.
    • Unlike adults, pediatric cerebellar hematomas often stem from structural lesions like tumors or angiomas.
    • Nonsurgical management of cerebellar hematomas is well-documented in adults, but rare in pediatric cases.

    Observation:

    • A 16-year-old male presented with a cerebellar hematoma of unknown cause.
    • The patient was neurologically stable and did not exhibit signs of progressive deterioration.
    • Structural lesions were excluded as the underlying etiology through diagnostic imaging.

    Findings:

    • The pediatric patient with cerebellar hematoma was successfully managed non-surgically.
    • The hematoma showed spontaneous resolution without surgical intervention.
    • This case challenges the conventional approach to pediatric cerebellar hematomas.

    Implications:

    • Nonsurgical management is a potential therapeutic option for select pediatric cerebellar hematomas.
    • Conservative treatment may be considered in neurologically stable children once structural causes are ruled out.
    • This approach could reduce the need for invasive surgical procedures in specific pediatric neurosurgical cases.
