Preoperative Prophylactic Antibiotics in Mandibular Fractures and Surgical Site Infection

Extended preoperative antibiotics do not lower surgical site infection (SSI) rates for mandibular fracture repair. A study found no significant difference in SSI rates between patients receiving multiple preoperative antibiotic doses and those receiving one perioperative dose or none.
