The bidirectional relationship between NAFLD and type 2 diabetes: A prospective population-based cohort study

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and type 2 diabetes share a bidirectional causal link. NAFLD progression to prediabetes and then type 2 diabetes appears to be the primary causal pathway.
