    Summary

    Pregnancy can worsen vertebral haemangiomas, causing spinal cord syndromes. Symptoms often appear in the third trimester, particularly in the upper thoracic spine, due to uterine pressure on blood supply.

    • To report two cases of vertebral haemangiomas presenting as spinal cord syndromes during pregnancy.
    • To review the literature on epidural haemangiomas symptomatic during pregnancy.

    Main Methods:

    • Case report of two patients.
    • Literature review of 11 additional cases.

    Main Results:

    • Symptoms occurred during pregnancy in all 13 reviewed cases.
    • In 11 cases, symptoms presented during the third trimester.
    • Epidural lesions were predominantly located in the upper six thoracic vertebrae (11 out of 13 cases).

    Conclusions:

    • Gravid uterus effects on spinal vascular supply may precipitate symptoms.
    • Vertebral haemangiomas require careful consideration in pregnant patients presenting with neurological deficits.
