    Background:

    • Current models inadequately describe bladder (detrusor) muscle function during filling and voiding.
    • Understanding detrusor behavior is key to diagnosing and treating bladder dysfunction.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate detrusor muscle activity and contraction strength during bladder filling and voiding in healthy women.
    • To analyze the role of the micturition reflex in normal and inhibited voiding.

    Main Methods:

    • Recorded bladder (detrusor) pressure and flow rate in eight healthy female volunteers.
    • Assessed detrusor contraction strength using a novel method (detailed in APPENDIX A).
