Bone marrow transplant is a potential cure for several diseases, including cancer and specific genetic disorders. Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are stem cell diseases affecting the elderly. New drugs targeting MDS biology are being tested with hypomethylating agents (HMA) to improve outcomes and prevent acute myeloid leukemia.
