Total artificial heart (TAH) and mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices like biventricular assist device (BiVAD) and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) are effective bridges to heart transplant (HTX). While survival rates varied, TAH use was associated with higher rates of heart-kidney transplants and post-transplant dialysis.
