    Area of Science:

    • Oncology
    • Surgical Pathology

    Background:

    • Retroperitoneal liposarcoma is a rare malignant tumor.
    • This condition often presents with diverse histological patterns.

    Observation:

    • A 69-year-old male presented with a large retroperitoneal mass.
    • The resected tumor comprised three distinct nodules measuring up to 18 cm.

    Findings:

    • Histological examination revealed three subtypes: myxoid, well-differentiated fibrosing, and lipoma-like liposarcoma.
    • The tumor demonstrated significant heterogeneity in its cellular composition.

    Implications:

    • Complete surgical excision is crucial for managing retroperitoneal liposarcoma.
    • Adjuvant chemotherapy may improve outcomes and prevent recurrence in complex cases.
