Selecting optimal prefabricated component combinations is challenging. This study introduces a fuzzy gray correlation projection method to evaluate schemes based on assembly rate, cost, duration, and carbon footprint, identifying the L scheme as superior for prefabricated buildings.
Area of Science:
- Construction Management
- Sustainable Building
- Decision Science
Background:
- Prefabricated buildings utilize diverse components, leading to complex combination schemes that are difficult to select.
- A systematic approach is needed to evaluate and choose the most suitable prefabricated component combination schemes.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop and apply an evaluation method for selecting optimal prefabricated component combination schemes.
- To address the complexity in choosing schemes for prefabricated buildings.
Main Methods:
- Constructed an evaluation index system considering assembly rate, cost, duration, and carbon footprint.
- Employed the fuzzy gray correlation projection method for scheme evaluation and selection.
- Conducted a case study on a residential building in Wuhan, China.
Main Results:
- The L scheme was identified as the optimal choice among six evaluated options.
- A ranked selection order for prefabricated components in different scenarios was established.
- The proposed method demonstrated good applicability in a real-world case study.
Conclusions:
- The fuzzy gray correlation projection method provides a reasonable and effective reference for participants in assembled building projects.
- This study offers a novel approach for the evaluation of prefabricated component combination schemes.
- The findings aid in optimizing scheme comparison and selection processes in prefabricated construction.
