Does bacterial colonization influence ureteral stent-associated morbidity? A prospective study.

Bacterial colonization of ureteral stents contributes to stent-related morbidity, increasing with longer indwelling times. Routine stent cultures are unnecessary as urine cultures detect the same microorganisms.
