    Summary

    Semen analysis shows sperm concentration is higher in the first ejaculate fraction. However, sperm motility and concentration correlate with cervical mucus penetration, not hamster egg penetration, in both fertile and infertile men.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the distribution of motile sperm concentration in split ejaculates.
    • To evaluate the correlation between sperm parameters and penetration assays (bovine cervical mucus and hamster ova).
    • To compare sperm function in fertile versus oligospermic men.

    Main Methods:

    • Semen samples from 12 normal and 8 oligospermic men were analyzed.
