Background:

Many women experience dissatisfaction when attempting to manage early labor at home, despite potential benefits of reduced obstetric intervention.
A web-based intervention, grounded in self-efficacy theory, was developed collaboratively with women who had prior maternity service experience.
The intervention incorporates advice for early labor and authentic video testimonials from women.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the impact of a co-created web-based intervention on women's self-reported experiences during early labor.
To assess the effectiveness of digital resources in supporting women through the latent phase of labor.

Main Methods:

A pragmatic randomized controlled trial involved 140 low-risk, nulliparous pregnant women.
Participants were randomized to receive the web-based intervention antenatally or usual care.
The Early Labour Experience Questionnaire (ELEQ) and clinical outcomes were assessed postnatally.

Main Results:

No statistically significant difference was observed in the primary outcome, the ELEQ score, between the intervention and control groups.
Women in the intervention group showed a significantly higher rate of spontaneous labor progression without augmentation (39.1%) compared to the control group (21.1%).

Conclusions:

The web-based intervention, while not impacting the primary outcome, was well-received by women for supporting latent phase labor.
Web-based resources present a cost-effective, user-friendly, and accessible method for educating women on labor management.
Further research with a larger sample size is recommended to detect potential differences in clinical outcomes.
