Summary

Rheocarna® therapy significantly improved skin perfusion pressure and continuous walking distance in patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia after distal bypass surgery. This adjuvant treatment offers a promising approach to enhance outcomes for these patients.

Background:

Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) poses a significant risk for amputation.
Distal bypass surgery is a revascularization strategy for CLTI.
Adjuvant therapies are explored to improve outcomes after revascularization.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the efficacy of Rheocarna® therapy as an adjuvant treatment post-distal bypass surgery.
To assess the impact of Rheocarna® therapy on skin perfusion pressure (SPP) and continuous walking distance (CWD) in CLTI patients.

Main Methods:

A prospective study involving 10 patients undergoing distal bypass surgery.
Rheocarna® therapy administered five times post-operatively.
Comparison of SPP and CWD before and after Rheocarna® therapy.

Main Results:

Significant increase in ankle-brachial index (ABI) from 0.62 to 0.936 (p=0.0117).
Marked improvement in SPP (dorsalis pedis: 71.5 mmHg, planta pedis: 65.0 mmHg) post-therapy (p=0.0020 and p=0.0293, respectively).
Significant increase in CWD from baseline to 78.5 m (p=0.0039).

Conclusions:

Rheocarna® therapy significantly enhances SPP and CWD following distal bypass surgery in CLTI patients.
The findings suggest Rheocarna® is a beneficial adjuvant therapy for improving microcirculation and functional capacity.
Further research with larger cohorts is warranted to confirm these positive outcomes.
