Genetic factors influence type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Specific gene polymorphisms, like SOD1 AA and ACE I/OXTR1 A, show protective effects against T2DM in males. Alcohol consumption interacts with ACE DD and eNOS bb or OXTR G alleles in T2DM patients.

- The ACE DD genotype, in conjunction with alcohol consumption and other genetic variants (eNOS bb, OXTR G), may indicate an increased risk or specific phenotype in T2DM patients, highlighting potential gene-environment interactions.
