The establishment of the oral microbiome begins before birth, challenging the long-held belief that the fetal oral cavity is sterile. Summary

A new categorical approach for early onset sepsis (EOS) using maternal criteria and newborn exams shows high sensitivity in identifying at-risk infants. This method is comparable to the existing EOS calculator for risk stratification.
