    Summary

    Floppy Eyelid syndrome treatment via wedge-shaped lid resection showed no ultrastructural abnormalities in tarsal collagen or elastic fibers. This finding suggests inflammation is the primary factor, not tissue structure, in this condition.

    Background:

    • Floppy Eyelid syndrome is a condition affecting eyelid structure.
    • Surgical intervention, such as wedge-shaped lid resection, is a treatment option.

    Observation:

    • A 60-year-old patient with Floppy Eyelid syndrome underwent wedge-shaped lid resection.
    • The excised eyelid tissue was examined using light and electron microscopy.

    Findings:

    • Microscopic examination revealed signs of chronic inflammation in the tarsus.
    • No abnormalities were detected in the ultrastructure or distribution of collagen and elastic fibers.

    Implications:

    • The tarsal connective tissue in Floppy Eyelid syndrome appears structurally normal at the ultrastructural level.
