Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and validate an efficient, electronic screening tool for ten Chronic Overlapping Pain Conditions (COPCs).
  • To assess the comprehensibility, ease of use, and agreement of the electronic COPC-S with physician-administered criteria.

Main Methods:

  • A logic-driven electronic screener (COPC-S) was developed by convening thirty experts to define criteria for ten COPCs.
  • The COPC-S was programmed into the Research Electronic Data Capture platform and refined with patient focus groups.
  • Agreement between the electronic COPC-S and physician-administered criteria was assessed using Cohen's Kappa statistics in patients with known COPCs.
