    • Understanding how medical training shapes attitudes toward preventive care is essential.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To examine changes in medical students' attitudes toward 20 preventive-care services.
    • To assess perceived importance and physician confidence over a 30-month period.

    Main Methods:

    • A cohort of 175 medical students was followed from entry through early clinical clerkships.
    • Surveys assessed perceived importance and physician confidence regarding 20 preventive-care services.

    Main Results:

    • Perceived importance of preventive-care services remained stable.
    • Student confidence in physicians' ability to provide these services increased significantly.

    Conclusions:

    • Medical education may enhance student confidence in preventive care delivery.
    • Opportunities exist to emphasize disease prevention within medical curricula.
