Summary

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) evolved from simian immunodeficiency virus (SIVcpz) in humans. Humanized mice models effectively track HIV-1 adaptation by analyzing viral load, CD4+ T cell loss, and genetic mutations during serial passages.
