[Perforated appendicitis in childhood--an apparently ever-present problem]

An analysis was made of the authors' surgical patients in childhood with perforated appendicitis for two periods of time, 1957 to 1967 and 1971 to 1985. The rate of perforation remained to be high, with no change to the good being discernible. Hints are given on its possible reduction.
