COVID-19 infection is linked to increased hair loss, specifically telogen effluvium (TE), in both men and women, with a higher incidence in females. Awareness of post-COVID-19 TE remains low in Saudi Arabia.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effects of COVID-19 on hair health.
  • To determine the relationship between COVID-19 infection and the incidence of telogen effluvium (TE).
  • To assess public awareness of TE in the Asir region of Saudi Arabia.

Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional study utilizing a pre-validated questionnaire.
  • Involved 1,000 participants aged 20+ from the Asir region, who had COVID-19 and no prior history of TE.
