Background:

  • Limited data exists on patient health-related quality of life (HRQOL) following TAH.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in patients after undergoing endoscopic transaxillary gasless hemithyroidectomy (TAH).

Main Methods:

  • Prospective study of 40 patients undergoing TAH.
  • Collected demographic and clinical data.
  • Administered Short-Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36) preoperatively and at 1 and 6 months post-surgery.

Main Results:

  • HRQOL scores in role physical and bodily pain decreased at 1 month post-TAH but returned to baseline by 6 months.
  • Role emotional scores significantly improved at 6 months post-TAH.
  • Postoperative HRQOL was influenced by pathological findings, resected lobe size, and complications.
