Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To derive a country-specific EQ-5D-3L value set for Pakistan.
  • To establish a valid measure of health preferences for the Pakistani population.
  • To support accurate health economic evaluations within Pakistan.

Main Methods:

  • A representative sample (n=289) of the Pakistani general population was recruited.
  • Composite time trade-off (cTTO) and discrete choice experiments (DCE) were used for data collection.
  • A hybrid regression model combining cTTO and DCE data was applied to estimate the value set.

Main Results:

  • The final hybrid model identified 'unable to do usual activities' (Level 3) as having the largest negative weight.
  • Mobility, self-care, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression (Level 3) also received significant negative weights.
  • The worst health state in the Pakistani EQ-5D-3L value set was valued at -0.171.

Conclusions:

  • A Pakistani EQ-5D-3L value set is now available.
  • This value set can enhance the validity of health economic evaluations in Pakistan.
  • Facilitates future health-related quality-of-life research tailored to the Pakistani context.
