[Features of rhythmicity in manic-depressive psychosis]

An individual study of the disease course in 189 patients with manic-depressive psychosis helped to identify 3 types of the disease course and 2 transitory variants which mostly differed by the duration of intermissions. The tendency toward a reduction in the duration of intermissions in the course of the disease described in the literature was observed only in patients with the first variant. One of the types of the course was characterized by a "series" of phases. Using the regressive analysis, it was found that the entire group of patients, both males and females, was predominantly characterized by a rhythm divisible by a synodic month with a correlation coefficient equal to 0.99.
