Background:

  • The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC) QLU-C10D is a preference-based measure.
  • Country-specific value sets are essential for cost-utility analyses of cancer interventions.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To generate a Hong Kong (HK) specific value set for the EORTC QLU-C10D.
  • To support cost-utility analyses of cancer-related health programs and technologies in HK.

Main Methods:

  • An online discrete choice experiment survey was administered to a quota-sampled HK general population panel.
  • Conditional and mixed logistic regression analyses were used to analyze data from 1041 respondents.
  • Weighting analysis was applied to address non-representative age distribution.

Main Results:

  • The mean EORTC QLU-C10D utility score was 0.804 (median 0.838).
  • Largest utility decrements were observed for physical functioning (-0.308), role functioning (-0.165), and pain (-0.161).
  • The worst health state utility value was -0.223, indicating a value lower than death.

Conclusions:

  • Established HK utility weights for the EORTC QLU-C10D.
  • These weights will facilitate robust cost-utility analyses for cancer interventions in Hong Kong.
