    Background:

    • Protecting tooth enamel from acid demineralization is crucial for caries prevention.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of different dental sealants in preventing enamel decalcification.
    • To compare the protective effects of Copalite, Portrait Veneer, Protecto, and Nuva-Seal against acid challenge.

    Main Methods:

    • 120 extracted premolars were divided into five groups, treated with different sealants or a control.
    • Teeth underwent simulated in vivo conditions (thermocycling) and were submerged in a decalcifying gelatin for 7, 14, or 21 weeks.
    • Decalcification was assessed, and data were analyzed using the chi-square test.

    Main Results:

    • Acid-etching sealants provided superior protection against decalcification compared to non-acid-etching materials.
    • Nuva-Seal exhibited the best performance, offering significant protection for up to 21 weeks.

    • Nuva-Seal is a highly effective sealant for long-term protection against demineralization in this experimental model.
