[Computed tomography for staging of gastric cancer]

Computed tomography for staging of gastric cancer was evaluated according to "The General Rules For The Gastric Cancer Study". Concerning serosal extension of the tumor, accuracy of CT diagnosis for advanced gastric cancer cases is 65%. Regarding lymph node metastasis, overall accuracy is 56%. As for these 2 respects, diagnostic accuracy is not so satisfactory. On the other hand, CT is very useful for detecting liver metastasis, but intraperitoneal dissemination is difficult to diagnose by CT.
