[Early colonic carcinoma--colonoscopic study]

Total colonoscopy has been carried out 4708 times in 3940 outpatients for recent four years and one month. 199 colonic carcinomas (72 focal, 46 invasive and 81 advanced carcinomas) have been detected and 120 of them were removed endoscopically. They contained of 8 early carcinomas in spite of the diminutive groups lesser than 5 mm in diameter. Colonic carcinomas were found out more frequently in the rectum and sigmoid colon (148 lesions, 74.4%), but not a few in the right sided colon (26 lesions, 13.1%). Therefore, the importance of total colonoscopy and endoscopic polypectomy should be emphasized to diagnose and treat malignant potentials.
