A rare soft tissue sarcoma, resembling Ewing sarcoma, presented as a disc protrusion in a young male. This case adds to the limited understanding of extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma, a primary epidural neoplasm.

    Area of Science:

    • Oncology
    • Pathology
    • Neurosurgery

    Background:

    • Primary epidural neoplasms are rare, with soft tissue sarcomas being exceptionally uncommon.
    • Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma is a rare entity, with only eleven previously reported cases in the literature.

    Observation:

    • The authors present a unique case of extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma.
    • The neoplasm mimicked a disc protrusion on diagnostic imaging.
    • The affected patient was a young male.

    Findings:

    • Histological similarity to Ewing sarcoma of the bone was noted.
    • The tumor presented as a primary epidural neoplasm.

    Implications:

    • This case expands the known spectrum of extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma presentations.

    Related Experiment Videos

  • Further diagnostic and prognostic insights into this rare condition are provided.
  • The findings contribute to the nosologic understanding of primary epidural neoplasms.
