    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To prospectively evaluate the incidence of bacteremia during fiberoptic bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL).
    • To determine the relationship between bacteremia and post-lavage symptoms.

    • Prospective evaluation of 12 volunteers undergoing fiberoptic BAL.
