Summary

Angioleiomyoma, a rare smooth muscle tumor, can occur in the upper limb. Surgical repair of the digital artery after tumor excision ensures full hand function.

Background:

Angioleiomyoma is a rare benign soft tissue tumor originating from smooth muscle.
It constitutes less than 1% of all upper limb soft tissue tumors.
These tumors can present as slow-growing, atraumatic lesions.

Observation:

A 54-year-old male presented with a progressively enlarging lesion on the palmar side of the ring and little finger base.
The tumor was intimately associated with the radial digital artery.
Complete en-bloc excision required transection of the radial digital artery.

Findings:

The digital artery was successfully repaired following tumor excision.
At 10-month follow-up, the patient exhibited full hand function.
No cold intolerance or neurological deficits were observed in the digital nerve distribution.

Implications:

Careful resection with digital artery transection and repair is a viable treatment option for digital artery angioleiomyoma.
This surgical approach can preserve hand function and prevent neurovascular complications.
Further literature review supports this technique for similar rare vascular tumors.
