    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To assess the relationship between pleural plaques and lung function in asbestos-exposed workers.
    • To determine if pleural plaques are associated with reduced forced vital capacity (FVC).
    • To examine the influence of asbestos exposure levels on this association.

    Main Methods:

    • Cross-sectional study of 202 nonsmoking shipyard workers with asbestos exposure.
