Area of Science:

  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Geology

Background:

  • Precise detection of stratum interfaces is crucial for geological discontinuity recognition and roadway support optimization.
  • Existing methods may lack accuracy or robustness in identifying rock interfaces.
  • Accurate interface detection enhances safety and efficiency in underground construction and mining.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To propose a novel model for locating rock interfaces using change point detection.
  • To improve the accuracy and reliability of stratum interface detection in geological formations.
  • To enhance perception accuracy for roadway support optimization and roof collapse prevention.

Main Methods:

  • A drilling test was conducted on composite strength mortar specimens.
  • The logistic function was employed to modulate drilling specific energy for interface detection.
  • Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was utilized for adaptive parameter matching.

Main Results:

  • Modulated drilling specific energy demonstrated improved anti-interference and sensitivity at interfaces.
  • The average recognition error decreased from 6.56 mm to 2.83 mm after modulation.
  • PSO algorithm resulted in a 50.88% reduction in the recognition error rate.

Conclusions:

  • The proposed method effectively enhances the perception accuracy of stratum interfaces.
  • The optimized drilling specific energy detection method contributes to roadway support and safety.
  • This approach aids in eliminating potential dangers such as roof collapse in mining operations.
