Electromagnetic wave passage through impedance-matched graded interfaces between RHM and LHM media: passive and
Abstract:
We suggest two new, to the best of our knowledge, models of a flat-layered medium with variable electric permittivity and magnetic permeability. They represent a smooth transition from an ordinary medium with positive parameters to a medium with negative ones. An analytical solution to the problem of transition of a plane electromagnetic wave through such media, which describes the phenomenon of negative refraction is obtained. The resonant excitation effect is observed in the case of the medium with an active transition layer.

Propagation of Waves
Consider a scenario where a wave propagates from a string of low linear mass density to a string of high linear mass density. In such a case, the reflected wave is out of phase with respect to the incident wave, however the...
Electromagnetic Waves in Matter
Consider the electromagnetic wave passing through a dielectric medium. In such a case, Maxwell's equations get modified. In Ampere's law, ε0 , the dielectric permittivity of free space is replaced with ε, the permittivity of dielectric. Also, the vacuum permeability μ0 is replaced by the permeability of the...
