Occasional drinking among university students

Data from a survey of university students are analyzed using a logistic regression model. The results reveal interactions among factors associated with drinking behavior that are not easily detected when more traditional linear additive statistical models are employed. The utility of employing indicators of personal beliefs, demographic attributes, and contextual descriptors in a single model of drinking behavior is demonstrated. Implications for intervention planning are discussed.
