Clinical manifestations of demodicosis

This article reacquaints the practitioner with the existence of two common ectoparasites of the ocular adnexa, Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis. Their history, habitat, life stages, prevalence, pathogenicity as well as diagnosis, treatment and prognosis are reviewed. The mild controversy of whether these organisms are true pathogens is discussed.
