The success of a journal depends on the general and specific responsibilities of the editor toward its readers, authors, and owner. For a journal to maintain its stature of excellence, the expectations of the editor-including editorial independence-must be preserved; therefore, in the best interest of the journal, the owner must provide unequivocal support to the editor.
