    Area of Science:

    • Pediatric Surgery
    • Gastroenterology
    • Congenital Anomalies

    Background:

    • Colon duplication is a rare congenital anomaly.
    • Defecation problems in infants can indicate underlying gastrointestinal issues.

    Observation:

    • A 1-year-old female presented with a 3-month history of defecation difficulties.
    • Diagnostic evaluation revealed complete tubular duplication of the colon.

    Findings:

    • Surgical intervention was performed to address the complex anatomy.
    • The procedure included closure of a concurrent vaginal fistula and creation of an oval window in the common wall of the duplicated colon.

    Implications:

    • This case highlights a successful surgical approach for complete colon duplication with associated anomalies.
    • Effective management can resolve functional deficits and improve quality of life in affected children.
