    Area of Science:

    • Pediatric Gastroenterology
    • Vascular Inflammatory Diseases

    Background:

    • Kawasaki disease is a systemic vasculitis primarily affecting children.
    • Colonic involvement in Kawasaki disease is uncommon but can present with serious complications.

    Observation:

    • Radiographic and intraoperative findings suggested ischemic colitis in a patient with Kawasaki disease.
    • The colonic lesion exhibited features consistent with ischemia.

    Findings:

    • A nonresective surgical approach was employed for the colonic lesion.
    • Aspirin therapy was initiated as part of the treatment regimen.

    Implications:

    • This case highlights the importance of considering Kawasaki disease in the differential diagnosis of ischemic colitis in children.
    • Successful nonresective management with aspirin suggests a potential therapeutic strategy for colonic involvement in Kawasaki disease.
