Purpose of the Study:

  • To examine the effects of online stress education and imagery interventions on stress mindset.
  • To compare the efficacy of education, imagery, and combined education-imagery interventions against a control group.

Main Methods:

  • 164 participants completed the Stress Mindset Measure (SMM) pre- and post-intervention.
  • Participants were randomly assigned to watch one of three 3-minute online videos (education, imagery, or education with imagery) or a control video.
  • A 2-time × 4-group ANOVA was used to analyze changes in stress mindset.

Main Results:

  • A significant time effect indicated overall changes in stress mindset post-intervention.
  • A significant time × group interaction was observed, suggesting differential intervention effects.
  • The combined education and imagery group showed a significantly greater stress-is-enhancing mindset compared to the control group post-intervention.

Conclusions:

  • Online video interventions can effectively alter stress mindset.
  • A combined intervention of stress education and imagery appears most potent in enhancing a stress-is-enhancing mindset.
