Proton Pump Inhibitor Use and Adverse Effects in South Atlantic Hospitals

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are frequently overprescribed in hospitals, with over half of patients receiving them without appropriate diagnosis. This non-indicated use is linked to increased risks of pneumonia and hypomagnesemia.
