    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the utility of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in diagnosing paranasal sinus hemorrhage post-trauma.
    • To compare the efficacy of CT and MR imaging in visualizing different aspects of traumatic sinus injuries.

    Main Methods:

    • Ten patients with paranasal sinus hemorrhage following trauma underwent both CT and MR imaging.
    • MR imaging utilized T1- and T2-weighted sequences to characterize the chemical state of blood.
    • CT and MR findings were correlated with surgical outcomes where available.

    • MR imaging successfully identified acute or subacute hemorrhage by assessing blood's chemical state, distinguishing it from mucosal thickening or effusion.

    • CT and MR imaging offer complementary roles in evaluating traumatic sinus injuries, with MR better for hemorrhage and soft tissue injuries, and CT for subtle fractures.
