    Summary

    This study examined the pharmacokinetics of ceftezole, a new cephalosporin antibiotic. Ceftezole showed rapid absorption and high urinary excretion, indicating favorable drug disposition in adults.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the pharmacokinetic profile of ceftezole, a novel cephalosporin antibiotic, in adult volunteers.

    Main Methods:

    • Adult volunteers received a single intramuscular dose of 1 gram of ceftezole.
    • Serum concentrations and urinary excretion were monitored over time.

    Main Results:

    • Peak average serum concentration of ceftezole reached 22.5 micrograms/ml at 2 hours post-injection.
    • The elimination half-life (t1/2 beta) was determined to be 1.5 hours.
    • Over 80% of the administered ceftezole dose was recovered in urine within 24 hours, with most excretion occurring in the first 3 hours.
