Intake of phenolic antioxidants from foods in Canada
Abstract:
The potential dietary intake of butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) in Canada was estimated using dietary recall data on food consumption and maximum permitted use levels for this antioxidant. Based on these estimates, it is concluded that the dietary intake of BHA and other permitted phenolic antioxidants (BHT and propyl gallate) is unlikely to exceed 1 mg/kg body weight/day and on average is less than 0.4 mg/kg body weight/day. Canadian dietary intake estimates compare favourably with those of the United States.
