Summary

High C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR) and low lymphocyte/C-reactive protein ratio (LCR) are linked to apical thrombus development in acute myocardial infarction patients. The systemic immune inflammation index (SII) showed no significant association.

Background:

  • Left ventricular apical thrombus (LVAT) is a complication of acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
  • Identifying reliable biomarkers for LVAT risk stratification is crucial.
  • Inflammatory markers may play a role in thrombus formation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the association between systemic immune inflammation index (SII), C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR), and lymphocyte/C-reactive protein ratio (LCR) with apical thrombus development in AMI patients.
  • To determine the diagnostic utility of these inflammatory markers for LVAT.

Main Methods:

  • Observational, cross-sectional study conducted at Bursa City Hospital, Turkey.
  • Included 22 patients with LVAT and 68 control patients with AMI.
  • Recorded clinical, laboratory, echocardiographic, and procedural data. Calculated SII, CAR, and LCR.

Main Results:

  • No significant difference in SII between LVAT and control groups.
  • CAR was significantly higher in the LVAT group (cut-off 0.165, AUC=0.718).
  • LCR was significantly lower in the LVAT group (AUC ≤ 0.382 indicated LVAT with 69.8% probability).

Conclusions:

  • High CAR and low LCR are associated with the presence of LVAT in AMI patients.
  • SII is not a significant predictor of LVAT.
  • CAR and LCR show potential as diagnostic markers for LVAT.
