Squamous cell carcinoma: complication of chronic skin disorders in black patients

Malignant tumors arising from the skin or from dermal appendages are rare in blacks. The presence of certain predisposing conditions, however, makes the development of cutaneous neoplasia a realistic possibility. A case of hidradenitis suppurativa complicated by squamous cell carcinoma is presented and the relationship between these entities is discussed.
