Background:
- Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disorder characterized by a deficiency in the survival motor neuron (SMN) protein.
- Intrathecal nusinersen therapy aims to increase SMN protein levels in motor neurons, improving motor function in affected children.
