[Functional performance of spleen transplants]

Splenic autotransplants maintain the maturation of erythrocytes. They also sustain the clearance function qualitatively, but from quantitative aspects, they do not work sufficiently. Animal studies concerning the defence of bacterial infections, are divergent. From clinical examinations, a return of various defects by autotransplants is missed, even more, negative results are reported. So, the prevention of OPSI by splenic replantation is questionnable.
