    Background:

    • Regular testing for antibiotic residues in milk from English and Welsh dairy farms has occurred since 1965.
    • Test sensitivity for penicillin was 0.02 iu/ml, updated to 0.01 iu/ml in January 1986.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To analyze the incidence and reasons for antibiotic residue failures in milk samples.
    • To identify the primary sources of antibiotic contamination in milk.

    • Intramammary antibiotic use is a significant contributor to milk residue failures, necessitating careful management.
